Caleb Haniquet
Owner / General Contractor

With over 36 years of experience in the construction industry and more than 25 years as the owner of Center Island Contracting, a Long Island-based general contracting company, Caleb possesses an exceptional ability to visualize living spaces in three dimensions—seeing not just what a home is, but what it could become. His founding philosophy of "building dreams and creating memories for generations to come" continues to guide every custom home and renovation project we undertake. As a fully licensed and insured contractor, Caleb's deep understanding of design and construction ensures that every home remodel enhances how families live and interact in their dream home.

Evan Lewitas
VP / Manager

As VP of Center Island Contracting and Lead Project Designer, Evan defines the project vision and strategic direction. He works with clients to establish the overall design framework- scope, budget, and conceptual approach. Once the design is clear, he translates it into detailed work specifications, creating 3D imagery, floor plans, and concept sketches that bridge the gap between design intent and project reality, communicating complex specifications in clear, accessible terms. He then orchestrates handoffs to architects, interior designers, and hardscape specialists who execute the detailed design. His detail-oriented approach resonates particularly well with professional clients who value comprehensive documentation, clear communication, and stress-free renovation processes. Evan's expertise in project management ensures your home renovation journey exceeds expectations from initial contract through final completion.

Design and Construction Working Together, From Start to Finish

Ryan

As a part of your project management team, Ryan is responsible for day-to-day field coordination and construction oversight. He manages subcontractors, tracks progress across build phases, and ensures work aligns with plans, inspections, and quality standards. Ryan communicates regularly with clients to keep expectations clear and updates timely. He works closely with Caleb and the field team to solve issues quickly and maintain schedule discipline. His hands-on approach helps deliver a smooth, well-run build from start to finish.

Alicia

Alicia leads CIC's administrative operations and serves as the backbone of our contracting infrastructure. Serving as part of your project management team, she manages all contracts, permits, and compliance requirements, ensuring every project launches with precision and stays aligned with municipal standards throughout execution. She oversees payment schedules, permit workflows, and regulatory coordination across all active jobs, keeping permits and submittals moving so your project can progress without delay.

Raquel

Working alongside the rest of your project management team, Raquel leads the design and selection process for all CIC projects. She works closely with clients to finalize cabinetry layouts, tile choices, fixtures, lighting, and finishes. Her design direction balances style, function, and jobsite practicality. Raquel coordinates with vendors, prepares detailed drawings, and ensures selections stay aligned with schedule and scope requirements. Raquel’s role ensures the project is ready for construction before our production team takes the reins. Raquel will alert the team if, during the design phase, changes to the construction details are necessary.

Alexis

Alexis supports both project operations and marketing at CIC. As a member of your project management team, she manages inspections, scheduling, markouts, and keeps our online client portal updated to keep the team aligned. Clients often hear from her regarding inspection logistics and important project notifications. She also helps shape CIC's brand by organizing job assets and assisting with content creation. Her responsiveness and organization bring clarity and structure to complex project timelines.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your home remodeling contractors different from other Nassau County contractors?

Our design-build approach sets us apart from traditional remodeling contractors. As a trusted home remodeling team, we integrate design and construction services under one roof, ensuring seamless coordination from your initial contract through project completion. Our 20 years of experience serving Nassau County and Suffolk County homeowners, combined with our systematic processes, delivers renovation dreams with exceptional craftsmanship.

How large is your general contractor team and what expertise do they bring?

Our team consists of 20 professionals including 15 skilled field craftsmen and 5 dedicated office staff members. This includes experienced foremen specializing in bathroom remodel and kitchen renovation projects, in-house carpenters for custom millwork, and administrative staff managing all contract documentation. Our comprehensive construction services team ensures every aspect of your home remodeling project receives expert attention.

Do you work with an architect for structural changes and additions?

Yes, our design-build team coordinates with licensed architect partners when your home remodeling services require structural modifications. Whether you're planning a home addition, removing walls, or making changes that affect your roof structure, we ensure all architectural requirements are properly addressed while maintaining our commitment to superior craftsmanship throughout the renovation process.

What areas do your home remodeling contractors serve?

How do you ensure quality craftsmanship throughout the renovation process?

Our systematic approach includes multiple levels of quality oversight by our experienced craftsman team. Each home remodeling project follows proven methodologies developed over two decades, with dedicated project managers providing consistent supervision. From initial contract signing through final walkthrough, our commitment to superior craftsmanship ensures your renovation dreams become reality.

Can your team handle both bathroom and kitchen remodeling projects?

What makes your design-build approach better for homeowners?

Unlike traditional contractors who separate design and construction phases, our integrated design-build model eliminates coordination problems and communication gaps. Our team works together from project conception through completion, ensuring your custom home renovation or remodeling project builds exactly as designed without the compromises that occur when using separate designers and general contractors.

How do you manage communication throughout home remodeling projects?

Integrated Design & Construction Teams for Complete Home Transformation

One of our greatest advantages as home remodeling contractors is the seamless coordination between our design and construction teams. Unlike traditional approaches where designers and general contractors work separately, our design-build model ensures perfect communication and execution. When our designer needs to adjust a window location for better functionality in your dream kitchen, she simply discusses it directly with our construction team, no delays, no miscommunication, no additional coordination fees.

This integration extends to material selection and project scheduling for every home renovation. Our construction team understands the design intent from the beginning, while our design team considers construction realities in every decision. The result is delivering exceptional results that build exactly as envisioned, without the compromises that typically occur when design and construction operate independently.
