At Center Island Contracting, every project follows a proven process that eliminates confusion, keeps communication clear, and ensures predictable, high-quality results.
From the first design meeting through the final walkthrough, our clients enjoy complete transparency through detailed documentation, weekly updates, and access to our Buildertrend project management portal.
We manage both pre-construction and construction phases under one roof, giving homeowners a single accountable team responsible for design, permitting, building, and final delivery.
Where Vision Meets Planning
Pre-Construction
The pre-construction phase sets the foundation for a successful build. Every detail is defined before the first shovel touches the ground.
Initial Consultation and Discovery
Every project begins with a detailed conversation to understand your vision, lifestyle, and budget range. We visit the site to take measurements, review existing conditions, and identify any potential zoning or permitting requirements within Nassau or Suffolk County.
Our goal is to clarify objectives early and align your design ideas with what is feasible for your property.
Design Development
This phase is how we set every project up for success. It gives both the client and CIC a clear, aligned roadmap before construction begins. In about 30 days, we develop floor plans, 3D elevations, renderings, a defined scope of work, and a fixed-price proposal. This step ensures that we’ve addressed your needs, met your budget, and resolved any layout or design challenges before we agree.
Pre Construction
Once the proposal is approved, our architects and designers begin nailing down the details. If permits are required, we will submit the blueprints and paperwork to your building department for approval, simultaneously checking off all the open items on the design side.
Our goal is to have the project completely ready to build by the time permits are issued.
Permit and Document Management
Our in-house permit expediters prepare and submit all drawings and applications required by your local building department. We manage communication with inspectors, zoning officials, and utility providers until permits are issued.
This process is tracked through your online dashboard, so you always know the current permit status.
Material Ordering
You’ve waited long enough for permits. Once they’re in, we don’t waste a second. With your selections finalized, we immediately order all long-lead items, such as windows, cabinetry, and fixtures. This step is key to keeping your project on schedule.
By making decisions early, we can hit “go” the moment approvals are received, ensuring your materials arrive precisely when we need them.
Preconstruction Meeting and Review
Before construction begins, we hold a comprehensive pre-construction meeting to review every aspect of the project—timeline, logistics, access, and communication expectations.
At this point, you will have a complete understanding of the project schedule, payment plan, and next steps. Any changes that arise during the permit or design phase are noted, and your project is officially added to our construction calendar.
