It’s August, so the summer is winding down and fall is upon us. With the passing of Labor Day comes football season, pumpkin lattes and back to school. But before we can close the chapter of summer for the year, we need to prepare for the busy season ahead. The following is a checklist for end of summer that will keep your household running smoothly this school year.
Clean Out the Closets
Before taking the the kids back to school shopping, organize the closets to make way for new clothes. Anything that doesn’t fit or hasn’t been worn in the last year should get donated.
Prep School Lunches
Make mornings easier on everyone by prepping for those busy mornings and weeknights. Prep school lunches and weeknight dinners by making sure fresh-cut fruit and vegetables are always on hand for school snacks and put together some freezer meals for dinners.
Check Smoke Alarms
Test all smoke alarms and replace the batteries. Make sure there are smoke alarms on every floor of the house and in every bedroom.
Clean Gutters
It’s time to clean out the debris built up in the gutter thanks to summer storms. Now is the time to get rid of the wet leaves that fall in the gutter.
Check the Fireplace
As the cold weather awaits, your family will likely use the fireplace this winter. Make sure there’s no build up or hazards before you start lighting up those toasty fireplaces.
Throw a Party Outside
Most importantly, enjoy the remaining days of summer by taking advantage of the nice weather. Throw a pool party barbeque outside to relish the warm weather until next year.
