We really enjoy our summers here on Long Island, so doing all of the necessary prep work for summer maintenance is a welcomed seasonal chore! We’ll take cleaning our decks and getting the grill ready any day over shoveling snow from our driveways. As summer gets into full swing, use this summer maintenance list as a check-list for everything you need to do to get summer ready.
Indoor and Outdoor Cleaning
If you’re heading on a summer vacation, it’s best to get your indoor and outdoor cleaning out of the way before you leave. Clean the air vents, the refrigerator coil, range hood and filter, bathroom drains and showerhead, check your lawn irrigation and patch up any cracks or holes in your driveway.
AC Unit Tune-Up
Your AC will likely be working overtime this summer, so make sure it’s working correctly. Replace the air filter, clean the AC drain line with bleach and get it inspected to prevent emergencies like fire hazards.
Gutter Clean-Up
Prevent leaks and clogging by cleaning out your gutters. Cleaning the gutters should be done a couple of times a year, so summer might be a good opportunity to do it since water and debris tends to build up over the winter months.
Pressure Wash
Get the grime off of the exterior of your home by pressure washing all of the unwanted mildew and gunk that accumulates in the warmer months.
Get the Deck Ready
Summer is the time your family spends a lot of time outside on the deck, perhaps hosting parties or just sitting outside with a glass of wine after work. Make sure to get it cleaned up and replace any unsteady planks that have the potential to be a hazard.
Deep Clean the Grill
Most summer meals revolve around the grill so make sure the grill is in tip-top shape. Scrub the grates and clean the burners with a wire brush. There are various ways to clean the grill, choose what’s best for yours.
