After the chaos of the holiday season, the last thing anyone wants to think about is cleaning up after Christmas and Hanukkah festivities. When reality sets in, however, the tree has to come down, along with all of the other decorations that come with it. Whenever you decide to start the process, here are some tips to tackle the whirlwind of holiday décor head-on.
Take Photos for Reference
By taking a photo of how everything was set up in its perfect place, you can set everything up by referencing the photo the following year. If you want to tweak it a bit to add in new decorations or rearrange old ones, no problem, but at least there’s a starting point to build from.
Get Boxes with Dividers
Dismantling the Christmas tree is one of the most tedious tasks, but rushing through it by throwing all the ornaments in boxes without any thought can make next year’s holiday set-up a nightmare. Purchase boxes with dividers to easily organize the ornaments and keep them from damaging each other.
Separate Breakable Ornaments from Non-Breakables
Going along the same lines as using boxes with dividers, it’s best to separate the fragile ornaments from the non-breakables. It will save a lot of time when it comes to putting the non-breakables away in their own box because it doesn’t matter how they’re packed in as much.
Organize Decorations in Separate Boxes
Break your decorations into different categories and pack accordingly, making the boxes containing the most fragile items more easily accessible than the durable decorations. While you’re at it, take inventory and label each box so that it’s easier to locate what you’re looking for next year.
