Syosset Home Design Trends for 2018

We’re now a month into 2018 and for those of you who are undergoing a home renovation or starting a new home construction, you’re probably interested in the newest in home design trends. While 2017 saw home trends like mixing up finishes and incorporating statement tile, 2018 will see trends like statement floors and the use of violent or lavender. If you need some design inspiration for your new home in Oyster Bay, Manhasset, Plainview, Jericho, or anywhere throughout the north shore of Nassau, here are 2018’s most popular home design trends.

Statement Floors

Tile or hardwood floors are certainly not going anywhere, but the emergence of statement floors is a trend to look out for this year. Move over statement walls – statement floors like vibrantly colored geometric tile are making their way into home design wish lists! Statement floors are a great option for a smaller sized room, like a bathroom or office, to make the space pop.

Mixed Metals

Mixed metals are another home design trend to watch out for in 2018. Mixing silver, gold, rose gold, copper or any other metals as accents will create warmth in a modern room. Gone are the days homeowners have to be cognizant of matching metals to create a cohesive look. A cohesive look can be achieved with mixed metals, too.

Velvet Furniture

Just as velvet clothes have made a comeback in fashion, velvet furniture will be a popular home design trend this year as well. Velvet seems to ooze the feeling of luxury, so why not use it as a statement piece with your home furnishings? A velvet couch in a bright hue is a design risk but opting for a neutral might be more practical choice.

Purple Hues

Nancy Fire, the Creative director of HGTV HOME, Design Works International and Studio NYC Design, told HouseBeautiful that the new color trend for 2018 will be shades of purple. “Millennial pink is still around and I still love it, but it’s morphing into lavender and lilac,” she said of this year’s new trend and 2017’s trend, millennial pink.

Natural Elements

Not only do natural design elements like stone or brick last longer, they’re also still on trend in the home design world. This is likely a trend that we’ll see stand the test of time, but it’s a trend for 2018 nonetheless. Natural elements fit in especially well when they blend into their geographical location, like wood in more rustic settings.
